Privacy Policy

Inchmeal

Last updated: 29 August 2026 Effective: 29 August 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Gary Butler, doing business as Inchmeal ("Inchmeal", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you:

  • visit inchmeal.app and join the waitlist (the "Website"), and
  • use the Inchmeal mobile app for iOS and Android (the "App").

Together we call the Website and the App the "Service".

For people in the European Economic Area ("EEA"), the United Kingdom ("UK"), or other regions with similar laws, Gary Butler (d/b/a Inchmeal) is the "data controller" of your personal information. You can reach us at hello@molehills.app (postal address: 109885 S 4743 RD, Muldrow, OK 74948).

2. A note on what Inchmeal is — and isn't

Inchmeal is a productivity companion designed to be friendly to people with ADHD and to anyone facing a task that feels too big to start. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, or provide advice about ADHD or any other health condition. We do not require, ask for, or knowingly collect any medical diagnosis. Using Inchmeal is not evidence of any health condition, and we do not treat your use of the Service as health information.

3. The information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Here is everything we handle, grouped by how it reaches us.

3.1 Information you give us

  • Waitlist email address. If you join the waitlist on the Website, we collect the email address you enter and a record of whether you confirmed it.
  • Account information. You sign in with Google or Apple. We receive an account identifier and, when the provider makes them available, your name and email address. We do not receive or store your Google or Apple password. If a provider does not supply your name, you may enter one; that name is stored only on your device.
  • Project content. When you use the App, you create "projects" — for example a photo of a room, a title, a description, an AI‑generated plan, and the steps in it.
  • Photos. You may take or choose photos of the thing you want to change (a "before" photo), and later a "now" photo to show what changed.
  • Notes. For projects you cannot photograph, you may instead type a short note describing what changed. Please do not paste the underlying work itself (for example, the text of a dissertation, a legal filing, or a private message) — Inchmeal only needs a sentence about what moved, not the work.

3.2 Information created when you use the Service

  • Server logs. Like almost all websites and apps, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data when your device connects to our servers — such as IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps. We use this to keep the Service running, secure, and debuggable.
  • App diagnostics. The App and the app stores may collect crash and performance data to help us fix problems.
  • Account and usage records. We keep the minimum server-side records needed to operate accounts, enforce usage limits, and recognise paid access. These include your provider account identifier, email address, sign-in provider, account creation date, subscription status, and counts and timestamps for certain feature uses. We do not use these records to build an advertising profile.
  • Purchase information. When you subscribe, Apple or Google handles your payment. We and our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receive transaction and subscription status information, but not your full payment-card details.

We do not currently use advertising trackers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you. If we add product analytics in the future, we will update this policy first.

3.3 Information stored on your device (not on our servers)

Your projects, steps, photos, notes, and progress are stored locally on your device by the App. That content stays on your device unless it is sent for the limited AI processing described in Section 5. We do not keep a copy of your projects, photos, or notes on our own servers.

4. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • add you to the waitlist and send you a single confirmation email, plus one email when the App is ready — and nothing else (see Section 6);
  • create and secure your account and keep you signed in;
  • provide the core features of the App — turning a photo or a description into a plan, optionally generating a picture of the finished result, and checking a "now" photo or note to confirm a day's progress;
  • operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service;
  • respond to your questions and support requests; and
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. How your photos and notes are processed by AI

This is the most important section, so we've kept it plain.

To turn your input into a plan and to check your progress, the App sends the relevant photo(s) and/or note to Google and its Gemini AI models, which process them and return a result (a plan, a generated image, or a progress verdict). This is what makes the core features work.

  • We send Google only what is needed for the request — for example the photo you captured and a short summary of the project's steps.
  • Inchmeal's servers do not retain your photo or note after returning the result to your device. Google may retain prompts, uploaded files, and model output for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring, policy enforcement, and legal or regulatory requirements. Google states that content submitted through its paid Gemini API is not used to improve its products unless the developer opts in or deliberately shares it for that purpose.
  • Google's handling of data sent to its AI APIs is governed by Google's terms and privacy commitments for its AI/Gemini APIs. You should review them: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/usage-policies and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. AI output can be wrong. Plans, generated images, and progress checks are automated best‑guesses and may be inaccurate. Use your own judgement.
  2. Think before you photograph others. A photo of a room may include people, faces, screens, documents, or personal belongings. Only capture what you have the right to capture, and avoid including other people (especially children) without their consent.

6. The waitlist promise

If you join the waitlist, we will use your email address only to:

  1. send you one email asking you to confirm your address (double opt‑in), and
  2. send you one email when Inchmeal is ready to try.

We will not sell it, rent it, or use it for unrelated marketing. You can ask us to delete your address at any time by emailing hello@molehills.app, and every launch email will include an unsubscribe option.

7. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:

What we doLegal basis
Provide the App's core features (accounts, plans, progress checks)Performance of a contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b))
Send waitlist confirmation and launch emailsYour consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time
Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, debug, and improve itOur legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))
Comply with legal obligationsLegal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened.

8. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run Inchmeal, and only as needed. As of the date above, these are:

ProviderPurposeData involved
Google LLCAI processing (Gemini) and "Sign in with Google"Photos, notes, project details; account name, email, ID
Apple Inc."Sign in with Apple" and App Store distribution and billingAccount name, email, ID; transaction and subscription information; store diagnostics
RevenueCat, Inc.Subscription status, purchase restoration, and entitlement managementApp account ID; transaction, receipt, and subscription information; device and technical information
Resend, Inc.Sending waitlist confirmation and launch emailsEmail address
Vercel Inc.Website and API hostingServer logs; data in transit
Neon, Inc.Database for the waitlist and App account recordsEmail address, confirmation status, account ID, provider, usage counts, and subscription status
Google LLC (Google Play)Android App distribution and billingTransaction, subscription, device, and diagnostic data per the store

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Inchmeal; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (we will notify you of any such change).

This list can change as our providers do. We will keep this table current.

9. How long we keep information

  • Waitlist email: until you ask us to delete it or a reasonable period after launch, whichever comes first. Unconfirmed signups may be deleted sooner.
  • Photos and notes sent for AI processing: not retained by us after the request is answered (see Section 5). Google may retain this content for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring and related purposes under its API terms.
  • On‑device project content: kept on your device until you delete it or remove the App. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling it removes this content from your device.
  • Account information: kept while your account is active and deleted within a reasonable period after you close it or ask us to.
  • Usage and subscription records: kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward where needed for billing, fraud prevention, disputes, tax, accounting, or legal obligations.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

10. How we protect information

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because most of your project content lives on your device, keeping your device secure (a passcode, up‑to‑date software) is an important part of protecting it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:

  • Access a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your information ("right to be forgotten").
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it (for example, waitlist emails).
  • Data portability — receive your information in a portable format.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these, email hello@molehills.app. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. Because much of your content is stored only on your device, you can also exercise many of these rights directly — by editing or deleting projects in the App, or removing the App.

EEA/UK: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

California: If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/ CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by California law, and we do not process it for cross‑context behavioural advertising. You may exercise your rights using the contact above; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

12. International data transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. These countries may have data‑protection laws different from your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or an adequacy decision.

13. Age requirement

Inchmeal is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or use the App. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us personal information, contact hello@molehills.app and we will investigate and delete it where appropriate.

14. Third‑party links and services

The Service relies on third parties (for example Google, Apple, RevenueCat, and the app stores) and may link to other sites. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. We encourage you to read them.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give you additional notice (for example, by email or an in‑app notice). Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
